Overview
This scholarship was created to support Rural Retreat High School graduates pursuing a music degree. The scholarship committee shall select one individual each year from Rural Retreat High School for the purpose of awarding a scholarship for the said student to be used to further their education in the field of music. The student shall be selected upon consideration of the following factors: Musical Aptitude, Character and extracurricular activities while a student at Rural Retreat High School and based on financial need.
Requirements
This scholarship is available to residents of Rural Retreat (required) who are currently in high school, or are high school graduates.
THE FOLLOWING ARE THE RQUIREMENTS FOR THIS SCHOLARSHIP:
- Attendance at or application to attend a college or other higher education institution to pursue a career in education. Scholarship awards are contingent upon acceptance and enrollment in an approved and accredited program.
- Submission of a completed “Smyth County Community Foundation Scholarship Application” online which includes the ability to upload the required “attachments” requested on the application. In the application, focus your essay on describing how your past experiences and future plans exemplify a dedication to music, service, and community.
- Submission of 2 letters of recommendation or references, expressing how the applicant demonstrates his/her dedication to community service and a sharing spirit.
- OPTIONAL- Application for FAFSA, Free Application for Federal Student Aid.
